Biospecifix is a niche healthcare firm that focuses on provision of specialty products and services to the Haematology and Flow Cytometry segments of Clinical Pathology (also known as In Vitro Diagnostics or IVD).
Based in Melbourne Biospecifix was established in 2003 by Terry Fawcett to initially provide specialised consulting services including market research and competitive intelligence in Haematology and associated IVD segments. In 2010 Biospecifix began to distribute specialty flow cytometry reagents and controls to the Australasian (Australia and New Zealand) clinical pathology and research markets.
Biospecifix is recognised in the industry for providing outstanding customer service, high quality flow cytometry and haematology products and support.
The distribution arm of the Biospecifix business has grown rapidly with Biospecifix now supplying in addition to Flow Cytometry reagents and controls specific Haematology Rapid Diagnostic Test kits (RDT) for Malaria and Thalassaemia detection.
In 2015 Biospecifix expanded the RDT business beyond Australasia to include The Solomons Islands where Malaria is endemic. Also in 2015 Steve Valentine, ex Austin Hospital Melbourne, joined Biospecifix to provide specialty flow cytometry support for Australasian clients.
In 2016 Biospecifix obtained exclusive rights to the Thalassaemia RDT products for Hong Kong and is also collaborating with an established Chinese Healthcare conglomerate to provide these kits into mainland China.
In 2017 Biospecifix continued its growth announcing the signing of a distribution agreement with CellaVision - the worlds leading digital morphology supplier in Haematology.
Today Biospecifix has two arms of its business running successfully – a rapidly growing distribution arm where niche Haematology and Flow Cytometry instruments and reagents are sold in Australasia, Hong Kong and the Asia Pacific and a consulting arm which undertakes specific projects for local and global healthcare organizations.
